Awesome, Danny are you able to share your aperture, shutter speed iso & lens?
I was using a 5D MkII with the 17-40mm lens. The focal length was 23mm and this was shot at f/16.
The photo is actually a blend. One photo was for the sunset, another for the foreground area, and another one taken slightly later to capture the traffic. The shutter speed to get the cars was somewhere around 15 seconds.

It doesnt get much more perfect then that. Epic shot. I saw it on the front page of 500px yesterday. Much deserved.
Thanks! I was surprised to see it get that far.
What a great image and a different look of Seattle.
My niece, also a photographer, lives in the Seattle area.
She will appreciate this.
Now on another note, if I had taken off like you did, I think my wife would have changed the locks and not answered the phone Then when I finally got back into the house, I would have found my portions of dinner intentionally overcooked & in the freezer!
Thanks for posting
Thanks! I did ask for permission before leaving, and fortunately my family was okay with me going out for a bit.
Fantastic shot, and I imagine some skillful post processing as well. Very well done!
I have to admit, shots from this place are pretty tricky to process. However, the light was so good on this particular outing that it ended up being easier than usual.
Killer shot, one of the best images I've seen all year.
That's a huge compliment! Thank you!
Simply outstanding! I'd say it's definitely worth leaving your family for a few hours.
Thankfully my family agreed!
Wowsers! Awesome photo. You tamed the sunset very well and that fog really adds something. I've seen many photos from this vantage point but yours has got to be the most unique and probably the best. The colors are just wild!
Thanks! I've taken photos from this spot at least 25 times and this was the first time I had the opportunity to get both fog and ridiculously good light.
Wonderful image, D, but I thought this was the Landscape forum.
I've been posting cityscapes here forever since I like the people in this forum! Those city people are all strangers to me.

Seriously though, this is pure gold! Great job
Thanks for backing me up, man!
Anyway you can share the location?
Certainly! It's from the 12th Avenue (or Rizal) Bridge. Here are the GPS coordinates:
47° 35.684', -122° 19.027'

spectacular. of all the cities that seem to produce skyline sunsets that never seem to repeat themselves, seattle tops the list.
Yeah, Seattle seems to put on shows from time to time.
