Watch the video and listen either through good headphones or big speakers. I have heard lions roar before but never ever with this intensity. Even facing away from us the sound went through my chest....listen carefully and you can hear another lion calling in the distance as well as vultures screaming and a woodland kingfisher calling. It is said a lion's roar can be heard for 5 miles...I now believe that.

Awesome sound..it's situations like these where I love being able to have video on the camera. Quite the healthy looking specimen.
Great looking shot too, can't really show how harsh life is in the wild better than that.

It looks like he just made the kill. Is that right?
I sorta thought the females made the kills and the dominant male ate first.
And the males being a necessary "evil" for the family as protector and for reproduction. A protector with a very big appetite (for food AND for sex ).
