I'm not keen on the spider one. Otherwise an excellent series.

There can't be too many chalcids which parasitise eggs, mymarids (which that is not) being the usual suspects.

Thanks for the feedback Harold. I agree with you re. crab spider. In tiff the file doesn't look quite as plasticky and false-coloured as it does here. Maybe I'll try and reprocess and re-upload later. I've already had the chalcid identified as Monodontomerinae.

A note on the use of the term "chalcid" might be of interest. Usually, the use of an abreviation ending in "id" e.g. "carabid" nomally refers to a family, in this case Carabidae.

"Chalcid" is a bit of an exception, in that it normally refers to the Superfamiliy Chacidoidea, within which are many families, including Chalcididae and Mymaridae:

Hey Harold I found another one to photograph, what do you think?

Found that for some reason my camera was adding additional saturation adjustments so they come out looking overly processed straight out of camera.

I like the way the OOF converging lines draw the eye in towards the spider, not that it is exactly inconspicous anyway!
