From your profile (if it's accurate), it looks like you already have the 18-200 range covered. Here are two options:
(1) Get the 300mm. It's an awesome lens and you'll almost certainly love it. As soon as you get it, you'll probably start debating a TC-14 or TC-17 :-). I'd go with a TC-14, probably - I'm not sure that the TC-17 really gets you more resolution with the 300mm. You might consider waiting on the 300mm, though, because I still think that they are likely to release a successor soon, which may knock down used prices a bit.
(2) Sell the 18-200 for about $400 (that's a guess), or one of the other lenses, and get the 70-200 plus a TC. On my 70-200 f/4, it honestly seems to do just fine with the TC-17E, although you are stuck at f/6.7 and a dim viewfinder. It's quite sharp and you still get a narrow depth of field for reasonably close subjects (focus accuracy may be an issue for an older camera, though). The TC-14E is also an option. Either way, you get to about 300mm and it will be sharp, flexible, image stabilized, portable, and fairly cheap (for me, that combo replaces the 300mm when I don't feel like hauling it and the 70-200).
