(Note- I cleaned up this anhinga shot and then posted the wrong one- so here's the correct one ).
Florida swamps, of course. Too bad it's about 3,000 miles away from the PNW; I only managed two trips there that gave me time for photography.
The anhinga was about to take off.
I posted this before but made some editing changes.
Alas- my 400mm lens left no room at either side, so I decided to crop some off the top and bottom for this version.

The link is to images of people I took through my years of travel.
Some I requested permission- but did not pose the people. And I took less than one or two minutes usually, because I hated to interfere with their lives any more than I had to. In most cases I had time enough to get an image or two that pleased me (out of a total of an image or two ). At $.50 per shot, I had to be careful on a four-month trip (my average out of several major trips abroad).
Others I just waited with my old 35mm film camera preset for exposure, and when something happened, I turned, focused and shot (usually I got only one shot- then turned back and walked away).
To me, the images of people represent the highlights of my travels.
And they represent my best photography imo.

Note: Except for China- I traveled on my own dime (back when US money was strong).
With China, I was a tour manager.

I hope those who visit the site enjoy them.

Time it was, and what a time it was, it was
A time of innocence, a time of confidences
Long ago, it must be, I have a photograph
Preserve your memories, they're all that's left you

Thanks Charlie,

Neat shot Charlie (still). It begs to be used graphically by a designer.

I agree, Morris, but then not many people have anhinga images that compare to old Chinese gentlemen .
To repeat my oft-written words: I've always been a traveler with a camera who took photos of things and entities that I liked.
Less than 10% of what I did for those 40 years of travel were about wildlife.
But now I'm stuck with a whole bunch of you guys and gals on N&W Forum whom I like and respect; and I wish I had more and better stuff for THIS forum.
Life itself is an imperfect thing .

This is a nice shot Charlie, and the new crop is an improvement. However, you street shots are on another level - well done ~ Ron

Thanks Eric, Morris, Ken, David and Ron.
Every time I look at the scan of this image, I like it a little bit more, so I try a bit of fiddling. But I think I've gone as far with it as I'm able.

As indicated, street-shooting in foreign locales was among my most favorite travel experiences.
Unfortunately, I wasn't much into the photography thing during my first two major trips (5.5 months in Europe and 8 months around the world). And those were some of my best experiences.
I'm finding that scanning, processing and posting on FM helps me remember much of what interested me during those travel years.
Since I no longer do much shooting (and NO foreign travel), reliving those adventures suits me.
It's my version of what old guys talk about all the time- their past.
(Trust me- it's better than talking about physical ailments .)
