Brrrrrr the White Demon has officially arrived and settled in for the season! It was way too cold yesterday for my liking!!!
I just recently picked up a used 7D and 17-55/2.8 lens and this is my first official shoot with it. So far going well. I am happy that my RRS L bracket from my 40D fits perfectly on the 7D and that my shutter release works as well. Just need to get an extra battery and I am good.
Here are a couple of winter prairie photos during a really nice sunset!
The second is a multi image pano shot in portrait.
Damn you are getting some nice skies over there lately! I've tried shooting sunset every night for 2 weeks and haven't had anything close to this yet. Lucky bugger
#2 for me also. I think if the foreground object in #1 was more prominent and easier to identify it would also work really well with the oof background.

Thank you Justin. I was out today for a quick sunset drive before supper and there was another very nice sunset but couldn't find any suitable place to photograph it. I hate it when that happens!!
You got some really sweet color in the sky here. I like #2 the best here. I can appreciate the creativity in #1, but the out of focus background just isn't working for me.
Hmmm,
Interesting set, Scott.
#1- I keep trying to clean my glasses. And bob around like an owl to sharpen focus.
And squint. And...
Surprisingly (?) I prefer the second image.

Second is great
I am with I
Others on the shallow dof in the first
Btw always love your presentation. The wide black mat works well with your vibrant images

Scott, I love No. 2, for the same reasons as everyone else - plus, I think the stalk in the foreground conveys a sense of solitude on the frigid prairie, adding to the emotional impact.
