Finally getting benefits from A7 short flange. Back at the days I still shoot Canon I had EF 85/1.2mkII, but never really liked the lens due to it's lack of character, big gaussian blur machine. I like quite much FD 85/1.2L character, but at least my copy isn't as good what comes to measurable features as EF version, but I kind of like the characteristics and drawing style.
I tried to shoot handheld, but it's quite pain because when shooting vertical I can't fit my thumb between camera and my face. Due to this C2 and rear upper wheel are quite useless on vertical shooting.
Also exposed according to exposure metering; it seems that exposure metering is very good in A7 - much more consistent than 5DmkII exposure system. Only issue I had that if I follow the autoexposure it was about 1/3EV over, but very consistently - now I know it's very easy to shoot. This is good because even after years of live view shooting I can't get idea from A7 EVF is exposure good or not (5DmkII + LCDVF I haven't used anything else than my eye for exposure measurement). Auto-ISO in M-mode was very nice due to image quality being about same between ISO 100 and 400, which is not the case with 5DmkII.
