Fabulous Joshua. Being there and ready - timing is everything, given your skill set!

K-H.

K-H., thank you for your kind words! The trick is to follow the flock that you anticipate to fly across the moon and you keep them in focus. As soon as you see the moon in the viewfinder you "machine gun" your camera. I couldn't do that with the A7r II last year but the A9 is way better in that respect. And the 100-400mm lens wasn't available either last year. However, we didn't much cooperation from the flying "folks" out there this time around. Most of them either flew too high or too low and In addition, to that the moon never really got that big as it disappeared at the horizon.

Here are two images of snow geese. They circled around and flew by pretty close to where I stood, close enough for me to capture them with my 24-70mm. Fortunately, they separated enough in both images.

Douglas, really love your first shot! Joshua, one more vote for your totally outstanding shot of cranes and moon! And Werner, and René, and Bob!

Seeing the terrier above reminds me - I don't think I've ever posted my girls here. These are older (but conveniently on this computer), from the short time that I had the much-despised Zony 55/1.8. First Gretchen, then Heidi:

Winding street in front of my house covered in some snow. Because I was in a hurry, I didn't use my tripod so no opportunity to focus stack. I focused on the large rock for this shot which means the background is a bit soft.

It's so weird to see these snow photos from Texas and Florida, while roasting in 80+F temps and wildfires raging in So Cal!

Here are a few more detail shots of the mauve steel building from Aberdeen in moist surroundings.

Thank you, Philippe! A rose in December in Paris? Well captured! Out of curiosity, what are the things in the background that the Otus 55 rendered as circular? I never touched, let alone, used the Otus 55 or any Otus for that matter. I always look at the bokeh, especially you use that lens quite a bit at wide open aperture.

Still from Bosque del Apache, and this one is more an overview of the crane pool there after sunset as the light faded but the sky turned reddish for the last time that evening. No snow that day but cold nonetheless.
