I have so many pictures to post I don't know where to start! I decided to take a small break from JUST cats, more will be coming soon enough

The Honey Badgers were a rare treat. We saw them in the dark on the way out that morning well before sunrise, they were running the opposite direction so we didn't follow them. Then on the way home when there really wasn't enough light we saw them again. This time they headed for water allowing us a little time to observe them and take some shots. The quality sure isn't there but getting photos of these guys was something I NEVER thought I would EVER do so the shot is a bit special.

Tim

1 a pair of Honey Badgers

2 Cheetah laying around in the shade

3 Grabbing some of the last rays of light before sunset

4 standing around, it was overcast, the rain had just let up and the light was pretty interesting

5 the lovely couple

Wow Tim. Gorgeous shots. I love the zebras most, especially the last one.
Did you have 2 500s with you or were you switching between your two bodies? Just curious how you decided which body to mount up each day or if you were switching a lot in the field.

Thanks for sharing, looking forward to more from your trip.

Ok, so those last 4 (and the last particularly) are beauties but the first had such an incredible degree of difficulty that that wins by a mile. One of the most elusive creatures to see let alone photograph on safari and you got not one but two in perfect focus....I have 2 in focus but I needed two shots to do it ....seriously, no light and at least 50 yards away...way to go bro!

Super set Tim, but wow, that last shot is special. Really like the light, the bg, the comp, the colors etc. It all works together well. Honey badgers are pretty cool too.

Sweeeeeeeet!
The honey badgers are a great find, & seeing this shot just makes me smile. The tight cheetah is beautiful & seeing the exif, i think anyone should not worry if they pair a 500mm f4 mkii w/ a 2x... Just wow for sharpness & detail. Finally, the light in ths zebra herd & their patterns are just perfect.

A pleasure to view.

Honey Badgers!!! I've read about this species and seen a drawing or two, but, man, what an opportunity.

One of the fascinating things about this species (besides their legendary ferocity) is the proposed relationship with cheetah cubs, which bear something of a resemblance to honey badgers, especially if an image is blurry, taken during a dust storm, and heavily cropped.

Fortunately, that is not the case here, Tim! I think the quality is OK, but what really caught my eye is the mood...somehow you managed to make these guys look cute, almost like, well, like cheetah cubs!

Oh, those zebras aren't too shabby either. Fantastic light, beautiful comp.

More gorgeous images TIm. I think I'm going to have to go to the thesaurus to find more descriptive adjectives to use since you have so many more images to come ! The zebra shots are my favs here - simply wonderful.

Congrats on the Honey Badgers, Tim! Interesting creatures.
Very nice portrait shots. The cat looks more relaxed in the first one, but I like the inquisitive look of the second one.
Interesting diffuse lighting in the last two. It give a special character to the images>
A job well done!

Congrats on the Honey Badgers at the Honey Hole, their markings are fascinating.
#3 Cheetah is my favorite of the two, gotta love that light in those beautiful eyes.
Believe it or not, the standout images for me in this set are both Zebra pics... fantastic compositions on both Tim, I love them both just as presented.
Top notch stuff buddy.

Wonderful shots Tim. To select any one of these as a favourite would do the others an injustice ....... I do like the red eye in #3 though
