p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Chinese Painting

I often think about how I can try to approach wildlife photography with more of an art form, trying to come up with something that will set myself apart from the norm. I hope I can achieve such goal one day.

Today, despite the heavy rain, I went out for a drive, looking for subjects to photograph and test the lens. I came across this little tree full of Cormorants and Anhinga. This image was shot at 325mm with the 1.4TC turned on. Because of the rainy day and high key image, I decided to turn it into B&W, give it a more Chinese painting feel.
1/800, f/5.6, ISO1600, handheld.

Very nice Troy. I agree with finding creative ways to capture your images. This has a bit of a Chinese art look

It does have the feel of a Chinese painting. Nice job, Troy.
Keep doing what you are doing. Sometimes we get so technical that we forget that the whole purpose of an image is emotions

Troy,
I love simplistic images like these. Here we are not distracted by color, but can enjoy the form of the tree and birds.
You might consider an alternate crop where you eliminate the foliage covered bird to the right and cut a bit off the left (for balance) while allowing the branches to terminate in the white field. A long pano like this reminds me of Chinese tapestries hanging in the home of an old friends.
cheers,
bruce

Thank you all for the feedbacks.
Bruce, I noticed that when I was shooting, I was hoping that one was not there. It is going to be tight if I cropped it, so I ended picking one with the most interesting pose. I agree with you. Thank you.

Interesting look although I personally am not into B&W. Everybody has to develop their own style. I applaud you for that! Don
