Lovely last shot, Taylor. Have you tried it with less vignetting and with the little bit of sunlight on the left cropped out? I wonder how it would look.

Thanks! Yeah, that little bit of light on the left is kind of annoying me now. The vignette is all from the lens and the scene itself (the bottom of the image was cropped out to give it a 16x9 aspect ratio).

I think I may keep the 28 cron:

these at 5.6 on A7, obviously still with some fuzz in the deep corners, but.....

Some more from the A7 and Canon 50mm f/0.95:

As you might notice, it does have "some" vignetting and just a tiiiiny bit of flare

No signs of colour shift here. Perhaps a touch of vignetting but certainly not obvious. As far as I can see from the middle shot at 24mp there is no corner smear either. The CV 35/1.4 seems to be a suitable lens for the a7. Is yours SC or MC?

I loved the Images I saw from the canon 50mm 1.2 more than the 0.95

I've settled on the Nokton 50/1.5 and 35/1.2 as my standard 2 lens kit for now, it makes a nice small package compared to my old 5D kit. I use a small Ona Bowery bag which thankfully limits how much stuff I can cart around

I don't miss autofocus at all, getting pretty much 100% manual focus hit rate with the EVF and magnifier.

I find the 35/1.2 is almost permanently on the A7R - its really 2 lenses in one for me; the well known wide open performance or stopped down to f/8 where I find it really good for landscape pictures [A7R, CV 35/1.2 at f/8, ISO 200]:

And the 50/1.5 is similarly very well behaved stopped down [A7R, CV50/1.5 at f/8, ISO125]:

Biggest problem I have had is the colour response in Lightroom - I dont find the default Adobe camera profile to give good red/orange rendition (the alternative "Camera Standard" is better). Been trialling Capture One the last few days and I am finding both colour and detail to be more satisfactory than Lightroom (just need to turn the default noise reduction down a bt for landscape images in C1).

gorgeous shots above, TY

today I had my 5cm f/3.5 red scale elmar, the lens which made the leitz reputation, or so I read, out on the A7:

This lens had no edges at any aperture on the R! Tonight I celebrated my R refund by buying an A7 backup, for when I have to have the edges on my wide RFs: an M9!

I've looked at so many M9 images as benchmarks in testing the sony I finally gave in, not least because the sony is basically the same size.

Out of curiosity, what is the performance of the M 75 & 90 on the a7(r) compared to the R 80 & 90 on the same camera?

I'm looking at a little longer focal length than my R 50, and I've been eyeing the 75 and 90 M versions, but was wondering about corner colorshift and other optical funky business (corner blurriness seen on WA M glass) that isn't present in the R series of glass (from design).

I know the R is a little heavier, and that's why I'm looking at the M mounts for a lighter carry around package.

Great to hear you bought an M9. At today's prices, you can't go wrong. And now you know it will work well with almost all the RF lenses you own. Snow conditions on your hill look pretty bare… Is this typical or is it a very poor season for you guys?

Hi Gary,
Here is the M9 I bought

Oh we have a big drought right now, but not the first time, so we have huge snowmaking system, 3k vertical, 40 runs or so. It's been good fast skiing first thing, but then is scrapped off and you have to know where tthe manmade snow has been really laid down from 11am on---when it's busy.

Now they have all left and we wait and pray .

Despite conditions, I had busiest xmass ever, and can now afford to splurge on M9. I think A7/M9 will be killer combo. Without A7 I would never have bit the bullet, like I said above, because I thought M9 was too big. Now I realise with my tiny skopars, 50 cron etc, it will be fine. Can't wait to see the 28 cron on it--mine happens to be coded.

Learning curve, but a fun one.

I cannot comment on the 75, but I find the 90/2 cron apo to be a FABULOUS lens on the A7r--no issues, and sharp as a tack unless I miss focus. A no brained purchase if the cost of admission is not an issue. Very happy with mine both for portrait and infinity distances.

That's awesome news! The 75mm was tempting me because of the closer MFD than the 90mm, but both lenses are pretty darn close to 85mm (with the 90 slightly closer) which is where I'm looking to be.

The 80 lux-R is nice, but maybe a little too heavy. Especially when compared to the M's.

Have read terrific things about Leica Lux 75 1.4, but have not tried it and it is rather heavy. Think I read some nitpicking about the 75/2 apo, but have no personal knowledge. One disclaimer is that I have not used the lens on a Leica body. However, I cannot imagine it would be any better than on the Sony. The Lux 50, for all it's excellent qualities on the A7r, I can see having better off center performance on the M, not so for the 90 cron.

Shot of one of my two photography test subjects with A7 and a newly acquired Leica Summarit 90/2.5 (at 2.5). I got the Elmarit 90/2.8 Canadian "Fat" but didn't really care for it wide open, and traded up to a used minty Summarit. Have taken maybe a couple dozen shots, but looks very promising so far. Wouldn't mind the 90/2 APO, but not sure I want to spend the money on a focal length I don't shoot too much and the few reviews of the Summarit I could find were encouraging from an IQ perspective.
