Two other versions on BWV - think I've settled on this most recent (#3) one - thoughts?

Interesting how preferences vary.

From a recent rugby match...

Best,

Bob

Not sure how the background relates, but since it has the bright tonal areas, if it could be brought down some ... it might not compete for the "draw" as much. Diggin' the intensity capture and the comp that puts him looking back into the frame/space. Usually not a fan of many ports captured landscape orientation, but this one works nicely for me. The detail in the tape really makes the image at telling the story.

BTW, looks like you've got some slight yellow in there, not sure if by intent or not.

I quite like this capture and rendition. Perhaps a bit less space on the right for a more traditional composition?

Very nice, a small crop as Karen suggested is a great idea.

I like Kent's re-work especially where he darkened the background. Draws the eye to the person and doesn't pull it toward the background. Personal preference if you want to remove some yellow from the image and take the image more toward neutral.

Thanks to everyone for your thoughts and reworks - crop and background issues are a plus, and the different, brighter and crisper treatment an equally interesting alternative.

I'm not seeing the 'yellow', but for those who are familiar my color work, that should come as no surprise

Best to all & thanks again,

Bob

I prefer the toning, look of the original, Bob, but it is a stylistic choice.
I like Karen's crop and I think that the portrait crop above works well also.

Scott,

Thanks for your observations and thoughts. I still lean toward #1 myself, need to look at the crop issue.

Regards,

Bob

I think you succeeded on a lot of things on the very first image in this topic.
Believe it or not, I find your signature is really detrimental to this image - it's position, shape and color are really getting in the way imo.
Absolutely love the amount of personality brought into this image.

gneto,

Thank you for your thoughts and compliments.

Looking again, much later with a critical eye, I agree re signature - detracts and obscures. Thanks for pointing that out

Regards,

Bob

Bob, killer look on this one.

Only gripe I really have is the blurred section in the foreground in the lower right - it's a bit distracting/bizarre to look at.

The detail on the bandage and facial hair along with the look in the eyes is brilliant.

Thanks Jeff,

Happy that you like it and appreciate your thoughts.

Had put this one aside to soak for awhile before finalizing - might try removing the individual and his hat

Regards,

Bob

There is so much pop from your subject that I honestly didn't even notice the individual with the hat, ha.
