I thought Elements was free. Is that not correct?

I can download the file to get Adobe Elements Trial dmg
AdobeDownloadAssistant (2).dmg
but when I'm trying to open the file itself, it says that it can't open it cause it
"has not been configured correctly."

I had fits trying to download a trial version. Then I tried to buy it online and still had no success even after calling the support line. Finally I gave up and bought a packaged version at Best Buy. The installation worked after some registration nonsense. Then I started getting warnings that my free trial was about to end. Then the frequency of the warnings increased. Fortunately my version continued to work. Adobe is not a company I am happy to deal with.

It can't open or mount the DMG file? If that's the case then file is corrupt. And if that's the case you need to flush your caches and redownload it. If it happens again the same way you need to find a different source for the original file. Maybe something like CNET Download or even one of them "torrent" sites. Most torrent site files use an original and tested DMG and then additionally supply some files that ethical men will wanna delete - just use that original DMG as if you got it straight from Adobe.

Sometimes you get the 'lite' or an older version with things you buy, like the Bamboo pen tablets and other electronic gizmos.
