I'm no photoshop guru (!) but I try this sort of thing once in a while. It attempts to blend two images together so that the moon "creates" a silhouette of some foreground object. I just use blending modes, but there must be better ways to do it that are more precise. I'm certainly open to suggestion to improve it or do it better.

Anyway, here's a result:

I'd use masking if the intent was a silhouette, rather than having the head and arms somewhat translucent.
