Great lens, I'm using the Canomatic R mount version (precedes the FL/FD). Same lens/group, the FD has 8 blade aperture vs 6 though.

I have been photographing harbours for a long time but this camera is at a whole different level.
All images handheld and crossposted in the A7r images thread.

I hang out at harbours a fair amount Michiel, although not with as much heavy industry as yours so I enjoy seeing your images. I'm sticking with Nex for the time being though and hoping the Nex7 replacement will be a good one.

The 200/2.8 looks like a good lens.

Thank you Mike

I never used the 200 much but it is just perfect on the A7r! (like all FD lenses)

It's one of the few 'classic' affordable FDs I've somehow avoided buying, though I do have both the SSC and FDn 200mm f/4s (the SSC is much the better of the two IMO). I think I've been mostly waiting to find a nice copy at a good price.

Which of the three variants (SSC/FDn/FDn IF) are you using with the A7r?

The newest version FDn. I bought it almost as new in a box a few years ago for 125,-
Never used it much because it was not very popular. But one should always try it oneselves.
I am going to use it a lot that is for sure.

Canon 50/1.4 FL Mount, second version- same optical formula as the 50/1.4 SC in FD Mount, which I also have.

This one is modified for Leica M-Mount, RF coupled.

Wide-open on the M Monochrom.

Michiel, the detail of yours with the FD200/2.8 and FD 100/2 on the Sony A7r are stunning!

A few from last October, in the English Lake District, taken with the FD 35/2.8 TS (late model and 1990 date code) with EdMika Adapter on 5DII.

Loving using the TS, but I'm looking around for another copy to compare it with, as I expected it to be sharper. In testing, mine is about the same as my 24-105/4L, my C/Y 35-70/3.4 leaves it standing.

Good Evening and Happy New Year!,

Tim: Nice work with the T&S; looks pretty good on this side of the world (incoming Nor'easter...)

Very nice Harry!

Michiel: Outstanding detail in your images, thank you for sharing!

Harry: I have a question for both you and Michiel; how are you getting rid of the CA/PF with the 400mm f4.5 and the 200mm f2.8? I ended up selling my 400 f4.5 because I was tired of the corrections needed in CS6/DxO Optics Pro to make the images usable. The micro-contrast/detail was often muddy after making the required corrections; I do not see those issues with my FD 300/400 f2.8 L's, but I pay a price with the weights (400 f2.8 is nearly 12 pounds).

Regards,

Edd

Hi Ed.
Thanks. I only have PS elements and have made no corrections. However i seem to see a lot of fringing when focusing the 400. I need to use the 200 2.8 IF more, so then i might have an opinion about it. I also have the 300 L and the 85-300, neither have seen much use recently, maybe this coming spring.

Thanks Harry!

I'm going to try a 486 UV/IR cut filter with my FDn 200mm f2.8 IF at some point next week when I am having some quieter moments...

I'll post some before/after shots if there are any worthwhile results to be seen.

Regards,

Edd

Hi Ed.
Try contacting Jordan Steele at jman13 . He has the 200 IF and 50-300L tele lenses. He should have some ideas for you.
Good luck
