Among the many fascinations of tidewater glaciers is the oft-present blue color of the ice.
Because the ice is so highly compressed, it absorbs all the "long" colors of the spectrum i.e. reds.
But blue- as a short and very energetic color- bounces around in the ice and reflects out for us to see.
In a way, blue glacial ice is every color EXCEPT blue .
