Hello, I have been following these forums for the past year and have learned a great deal from everyone's posts. I would like to start off by saying a big THANK YOU to all. Reading the forums has been very educational, but I realized that to improve further I needed to get some direct feedback on my own photos.
I've been spending a lot of time at dimly lit rinks with my son and daughter, and have been enjoying taking pictures of them on the ice. While perhaps not the most action packed, below are several photos I've taken recently of their hockey / ringette games. I am trying to gradually capture pictures of all the kids on the teams so we can build a photo book at the end of the season for each child.
In general I try to take pictures from the bench or penalty box. Besides being relatively dark, the rinks my kids play in typically have terrible glass, and my post-processing skills are no match for the colour cast, softness and lack of contrast this glass creates. Settings are typically in the 1/500 to 1/800 shutter speed range, f2.8, and iso between 3200 and 6400 with a 5d mk iii. All post-processing is in Lightroom (which I purchased last year and am starting to feel more comfortable with).
Thank you for looking. I welcome any suggestions/critique. Also, as this is my first post, apologies in advance for any technical issues I encounter.
Clint
