Hi Guys,

I just received this camera today direct from Canon and I put on 4 lenses and all of them won't focus on this, (back focus). I tried my other 5dMkIII and all lenses work fine, what could it be? should I return the camera? Thanks for any help

Ensure enable AF on that button through custom function is enabled, and it's not assigned to something else

and where's that exactly on the menu?

I've had this issue before when the diopter (little wheel up by the eye cup) was inadvertently bumped. Check the dial and see where the indicator is. Look through the viewfinder and roll the dial, see if that helps.

By "won't focus," do you mean:

1. The lens makes no effort to focus;
2. The lens tries to focus, but the photo is badly focused;
3. The lens tries to focus, but it looks out of focus through the viewfinder?

This will help pinpoint the problem, I think.

My suggestion would be..send it back for exchange..I would not bother with Canon CPS fixing it.

I had the same problems with my first 5D3. I had it at CPS 3x but always came back "in good working order". But it never really focused.

My retailer exchanged it for another camera body and everything was fine and still is with the new exchange.

My first one was a Lemon.

I think we first have to understand exactly what the OP means , as the text makes very little sense .

ie :
Does Focus not work at all?
is focus just way off?
does the body focus using the shutter button?

and the there are more questions that can be asked .

Everything works fine now, quick call to Canon and it's all about resetting the custom function.

Must have been a store demonstrator "open box' model?

Was the box factory sealed when you received it?

Glad you got it working. Probably best thing with a used or refurb camera is to go and restore all settings to default before going through and changing things to your preferred setting.

I feel you. When I got mine, I had to ask some of the similar setting questions as I was not used to the menus. I was used to the 1D's and 5D2 menus and this one was totally different for me. I had a hard time figuring out how to set up back button AF and switching the buttons. I had the manual too, but some of that stuff can be confusing at times, plus it's a lot of it, too.
