p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · CPS Repairs - Warranty on repair

Had my 24-70 repaired after it got damaged back on June 22.
I noticed a couple of weeks ago that it doesnt focus to infinity at the wide end. It gets to the little bit past infinity, and its real close, but its not there, nor can you go past it. Same on 3 cameras...
So before I ship it back with the repair receipt, I wondered if its still under the warranty I had it repaired under, or if they're going to charge me again...?

are you talking about the dial on the lens not lining up to infinity or actual picture not focusing to infinity?

Not sure the duration of the warranty, but if you complain about it, they might fix it for free.

Its worth a phone call into Canon but assuming its been 4 months since it was repaired, you may have to pay again.

What was damaged and did you not notice this issue after the repair?

I feel for you man. Been there done that. And because I am an idiot who doesn't learn from mistakes, more than once. I was happy with the repair of a lens after only a cursory test, and as it's a lens that doesn't see daily use it was in the drawer for ... about a year until I took it out again. At that point I didn't even bother calling them, although I was quite certain that the lens didn't magically break itself in the drawer (although, we do live in earthquake country...)

I hadn't locked it into the lens mount went to zoom out and it fell out of my hands. Scratched the rear element. Focus was off too.
No I. Didn't notice - it's only on live view at the wide end that it shows up. In the viewfinder it look 'ok' but who you use live view inf is only about 20 feet out and past inf is about 50. Beyond that it's all aperture. Was always tack sharp before

Yes, 6 months and I've found that they actually will fix issues that weren't even a problem in the original repair, but don't know if that's a standard policy. Also when you send it in again, you'll get another 6 months on the new repair.

Didn't realize you were CPS member...that changes a lot. I have always had great success by calling CPS ahead, getting a contact name (generally a supervisor) and then following up once item is received...been very pleased with service thru CPS.
