I would like to use the HDMI output of my 7D for live video purposes. Is it possible to shut off the rectangular focusing aid thats always present. Hopefully, I'm just missing something. I'd prefer not using Magic Lantern.
Thanks

definitely not without ML

ML clean HDMI doesn't give full res either, at least it didn't on the 5D3

Thanks,
I guess I'll try to find the box with the composite cable and see if that works.

Unfortunately you need a 5D3 with at least 1.2.1 firmware for clean hi-res HDMI

It still looks like it's derived form the 8 bit 4:2:0 but it's in a 10 bit 4:2:2 wrapper as it comes out.

I loaded the 7D with the latest ver of ML. The overlay goes away, but all of the menus are gibberish. Kinda makes it hard to set resolution. I'm hoping there's a setting to keep the camera from going out of live view.

You need to copy over the complete ML directory since some of the drawers in the package contain the text fonts that it uses to make the menus and you get gibberish menus without that. I made the same mistake the first time I tried to ever use ML too.

That did the trick. Thanks
I wasn't able to find a menu to turn off the live view turning off
