p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Sky Of Fire

Yesterday I took a much needed break and took a drive to a favourite spot of mine. Having not really photographed anything in almost 2 weeks I was in need of a zen moment!

Thought colder temps and winds helped fight the zen the colours mother nature gave me made up for it. There was a large fire nearby and smoke was in the air. I think it aided in the colours. The water is the lowest its ever been for me and many rocks I've never before seen were exposed. This place is constantly morphing. Something new to shoot every time I go.

1 - 3 explosre blend

2 - single exposure, Lee 0.6 GND + Lee 0.9 GND

3 - single exposure, Lee 0.6 GND + Lee 0.9 GND

4 - 3 exposure blend to reacue a little bit of shadows and highlights, Lee 0.6 GND + Lee 0.9 GND

I got many photos and will probably torture you all with another post from sunset. It just kept delivering my colour. My battery indicator was flashing like a madman but it didnt die on me!

Hope you enjoy!

All great, of course.
I like the last one most, the combination of foreground composition and colorful sky adds up just right for me.

Great series Scott. I like the last one the best. Great subtle light on the rocks. Do you use a soft GND or hard?

Great as always. You must have been moving quick to get all those compositions in one sunset. Amazing depth makes number 4 my favorite.

You really do get some of the best skies out at this lake. Unreal!

Great images. The last 2 are my pick and if I could only choose one it would be 3. I love the reds and the amazing clouds.

While staring at photo #4 I noticed what looks like a dragon in the sky!

Different-but-equal imo. I like all of them, if for slightly different reasons.
The first image indicates using a really w i d e angle lens. But it sure works fine.

Hey Scott,

Very cool work here. #4 is my favorite, and wow.... there is a dragon up in there!

I would like #1 next, but I think the highlights in the sky are a bit too bright still. Maybe recover a bit more of that, which would then help emphasize those really cool rays of clouds.
