Onsite printer...for what purpose?
A couple of snapshots to give to clients?
Or thousands of prints on demand?
ANY <$100 inkjet will print as good or better than a $1000 dye-sub.
Pool a few together and you can match/beat the speed of dye-subs with built in redundancy.
For ultra portable, I picked up a Canon iP100 printer for international travel. Bluetooth connectivity and has a battery = completely wireless. It's about the size of a small laptop, but thicker and prints out images wonderfully on photo paper. It's also great for invoices, boarding passes, documents, etc... Cost ~$200
