You mean you've been screwing up lately and I didn't even notice it?
Dangnabbit, Ron, that piffles and balderdashes me!
All that really matters, though, is how the shot looks as presented.
As presented here, I think it's an extremely satisfactory image .

Looks pretty dang good to me, Ron. Could be a tad over-saturated. I would not worry about what anyone sees at 100% zoom since that is not how it is meant to be viewed.

Hi Ron,
When I pull my device with my two fingers to zoom in your picture. All around the heron close to its body on the background I see lots of over-sharpening.
BeeBalm
P.S. I forgot to mention your capture is gorgeous!

Thanx BB. Are you enlarging over 100% because I don't see over sharpening at the posted size?

Hi Ron,
Yes!
I view this forum on a retina iPad or retina iPhone.
By pulling and pinching, it's easy to see what has jagged lines on the edges of objects. But I don't know the exact magnification.

Why change up your processing if the old style looks this good? Great shot, Ron

Work is heating up again - more long hours & I even had to leave home early the other morning...

My opinion ... In terms of pp

The background has no obvious noise. Good job at 1000. I can't judge the color. Sorry, on iPad. If I expand the edges of the bird, jaggies are there. I'd judge it a bit over sharpened.

Composition. ...

Thanx. I don't see much to indicate over sharpening. There is a very slight halo under the extended leg. What are you seeing that sez over sharpening?

birdied wrote:
Love the shot Ron, wonderful composition ! I don't notice any over sharpening on my 15" macbook laptop

Birdie

Thanx Birdie. You are obviously right...

Good shot Ron. I like that pose, and all the greenery in the water (non-algae green). Vivid eye!

Very nice and just keep doing what you're doing!
Eric

Thanx Eric. I was just trying to reduce the file size to make it harder for someone to steal my shots. It worked - the last set was too bad for anyone to want to steal...

Storm300 wrote:
You can certainly make a case for slight over-sharpening here, but not much. I don't know if you applied NR to the bird at all, but it looks like there may be some evidence of some NR in the neck.. the detail in the plumage does not appear to be quite as good here.. Nevertheless, this image is pretty solid! -Mike

Thanx Mike. No noise reduction on the heron.

DonGut wrote:
With images like that, you're 90% of the way to greatness before you even start pp. Fine shot. Don

Thanx Socrate. I do appreciate you being picky. I didn't change the contrast, but normally do work with either "curves" or "levels".

brimull wrote:
It's gorgeous on my monitor. Contrasty, but not over the top. Well done.

oversaturated with color but it may be my monitor

Thanx Jeff. I almost never touch saturation, and didn't here.

dgdg wrote:
I'd be very happy with this photo.
I might experiment with less sharpening and saturation as mentioned previously. Maybe it is a contrast thing, not sure. these are tiny nits.
You are level with the bird, great dark background, sharp, smooth, great composition!

David

Thanx David. The yak does provide a great low angle.

Ron

I can see jaggies around the beak and head. Body and leg are ok. I got too used to viewing the forum on an iPad so it's too easy to pull the pictures making them more than 100%. Ur fine. Good work
