Way back in the 1960s, I took an 8-month wander around the world. Fantastic destinations.
Crappy half-frame camera with lousy B&W film and dime-store processing.
Please try to see beyond the crap .
After landing in the capital city, I flew to Siem Reap to see the ancient ruins of Angkor.
Back then, the ruins at Angkor Thom hadn't had all the jungle growth removed (it has since been "cleaned up").
Today's and the following post are photos I took in Angkor Thom.
As you can see, the jungle had steadily been consuming the ancient temples for hundreds of years.

These remind me of the Borobudur in Indonesia. Interesting and valuable images

To see those parts of the world in the days before most had the opportunity and before the west took hold....priceless images Charlie.

These are wonderful Charlie...I wish I had the opportunity to see them all. I remember some of those half-frame cameras. I can only imagine what some of the rest of the images are like.

Thanks gentlemen.
And Ron .
My interest in serious travel began earlier than my interest in photography- hence the half-frame camera (two pictures for the price of one ).
But these and others do the job of reminding me about the treasures I saw.
And I appreciate that you are kind enough to set technicals aside for me here (and at other times, also ).
As I've said before- I'm just a traveler with a camera.
Who enjoys sharing his travel pics with kind folk .

Charlie, I really like these. I found them as I was searching for Angkor photos after being there myself this summer. I posted a few of mine in the landscape forum. The thing that strikes me is how similarly impressive they are today, even though some of the jungle vines have been cleaned up. I found it difficult to capture how vast the structures are, in addition to how much detail went into the design and carving. Also, strangler figs are so cool. It's amazing how they get into every little crack between the rocks.

If you've got a online album where you've posted some more, it would be fun to look. Send me a pm with the link.

Atmospheric shots of an atmospheric place Charlie, I was there in 2009 and it looked pretty much the same as in your shots.

Great shots. I spent 13 months in Southeast Asia 68'-69'....but I was getting shot at. You had a nice trip compared to my all expenses paid trip by the government.

Thanks John, Paul, Hawg, Reeftank and Birdie.
I have no links to any of my stuff. Just the FM gig because it gives me pleasure and 99.9% of the time people are polite to me. Other venues tend not to be polite to anybody- which is the rap against the internet. People can be nasty and don't even have to worry about getting their noses broken.
My airline ticket had Saigon, S. Vietnam as a stopover, but I changed that portion to skip it because at the time the war was going on.
I was drafted (and served in Germany) between the Korean and Vietnam wars. I was lucky about that.
