A nice set David. There was a story on tv a few years ago about the red vs grey squirrel. I think there was a bounty on the grey at that time ~ Ron

Thanks Ron. It hasn't quite got to there being a bounty on the greys here. I guess our strategy is just to vehemently protect the reds

Both interesting information and really nice photos David. Hopefully the red guys will acquire some immunity through natural selection. If not, they will really have to be segregated or the subspecies will be in big trouble going forward.

Nature is a wonderful thing Eric. One never knows the future for a species. As long as people keep distinguishing between the adorable reds and the not-so-adorable greys, we have a chance

Nice one David! A cute little guy too.

Speaking of, there's always a great surprise in store when you open the hood of your truck and a squirrel jumps out at you!

Thanks Craig. I bet you squealed

Nice stuff, but I sure hope this blatant baiting program isn't adversely allowing these squirrels to survive! Just kidding; I couldn't resist. We have the same red squirrel/grey squirrel issues in Canada where I live, but habitat seems to play a greater role as to which type dominates! Don

, thanks Don. Habitat does help. The reds seem to thrive in the old caledonian forests within the NP here.

David- That's one delightfully cute squirrel.
And some good shooting also.
Because they don't have a balance in your tight little island- I wonder where the grays came from.
We have both in the US.
Did an American introduce the grays to the UK as a way to thank you for infesting us with all those super-aggressive starlings?
