p.1 #1 · Building an email campaign: Looking for feedback on my website

Hello!
How is everyone?

I am building an email campaign through agency access to target editorial publications in my area. I shoot fashion and portrait work and I'm looking to increase the amount of editorial work I'm doing.

My website is http://www.mikedote.com

My question is as follows: what impressions do you get about me, my photography and my business when you look at the site? Any and all feedback would be welcome and appreciated

I'm no expert and I am using a slow ISP but your pictures load a lot slower than mine do on my website.

Looking at the site it was slow to start. Then the first 3 image files went so fast I could not even see them. Going into the gallery it was also slow to load. If anyone busy hit the site they would leave before seeing any images.
the work is nice.

just in general. I noticed several photos where it looks like the skin wasn't retouched. clean but sharp skin and smooth shadow/highlight transitions on the face are one thing i'd work on in PS.

The slide show on the main page has different loading and display times for each image. I'd suggest you resize them all to a certain size. I saw a few photos I liked, but I look at the photo, and before I even get a chance to really look at it, its gone.

Thank you! I'm in the midst of resizing and re-captioning all of the images. It's definitely taking longer than expected

Excellent lighting in more than a few photos. Some captions are cut off and some times the page head overlaps with the body copy. Same with the top logo going over the images. This could be my screen size though.

- Sometimes the logo is over the image depending on screen resolution.
- There is dust on the right side of the fencer image. Also, the image doesn't fit with the rest of your work.
- I don't feel any cohesion on the landing page from one image to the next.
- The font is hard to read and doesn't look crisp, especially on the About Me page, but also on the menu.

Just a few initial impressions.

For commercial photography, your photos are underexposed. You can have strong lighting with blown highlights and deep shadows, but generally speaking, the exposure levels are much brighter so that viewers can easily take in the details of the product that's being highlighted.

On the "About Mike" page, try to stick to references that promote your professionalism. The text is awkward and doesn't flow. Talking about Buddhism and working with kids is largely irrelevant to art directors. List some of your high-profile credits or companies you've worked for in the past. If you've won prestigious awards, mention them by name. Clients don't like taking risks when it comes to their money and projects. You have to show that you're not only talented, but safe to hire.

Web sites, so many photographers so many pictures.
Your blog is better than your web site, IMO.
Your web site has too many pictures, and too many words.

Just my opinion here, but I think less is more.

BTW, I am right in the middle of re organizing my own site too because right now it sucks.
