Greg skin looks good on my monitor. Do you think it's to warm? I usually go a bit warm. Maybe I need to re-calibrat. Let me know.

It's a nice shot but looks a little yellow to me... I'm also not sure such shallow DOF works on exec headshots. And the bright spot floating above her head is a little distracting.

Thanks. I will run a test print. Might have to re calibrate.

Tweaked and then printed and the print looks good. Photobucket not so good LoL...The color still looks off from photobucket (posted above) to red as compared to the original file, to dark and a touch soft.

Looks good.

Your title confuses me, though. What's that all about?

Agree with 24Peter, the bright spot is a *major* distraction IMO.

I would guess "in available light"

Agree with others... bright area needs to go away and too shallow DOF for a corporate headshot.

Yes it was available light. This is a client that I have had for 8 years. They hired me for the way my work looks. The art director saw another campaign that I shot for another steady client 8+ years ago and loved it. I usually shoot all my execs with a shallow DoF as long as the eyes are sharp or unless it needs to include more of the environment for the piece. I was on a conference call this AM with both the client and the art director and they loved this shot. The art director didn't think that the background was distracting but said something that I agree with. He said that it adds depth to the image. Most would shoot exactly the way you have described but I get hired because I don't see and shoot like most.

looks to me like you just missed the focus... the eyes don't look as sharp as the front of her coat.

Hmmm... I agree that a paying client and/or art director's input is more important than anyone else's. And congrats on all your repeat business. But it sounds a little to me like you're more interested in defending your choices than input from the forum. If I have that wrong, I apologize. Just the impression I'm getting from your responses.

I'd say sharp enough.

As I said above photobucket is't the greatest and 80 KB jpgs on a web site is no real way to judge sharpness.

I like the image. The tip of the nose looks a little sharper than the eyes.

I can't help but think:

200mm shot at f2: $5995

200mm shot at f2.8 (a smidge more DOF might be nice): $819

Yes, you get IS and a much more sexy looking lens.

For the measurebaters the tip of the nose is soft. [

I think of it as $200 vs $50 for a 5 day rental....

Plus you get a look that cannot be achieved any other way - I don't shoot Canon but the Nikon 200 F2 has a look that only the long exotic primes have.

But at the end of the day - as long as he got paid - who ready cares?

No, I would say he is more interested in pleasing his paying clients than satisfying a bunch of strangers with vastly varying ability and taste!

I did not mean to offend, nor question his choice. If I was still a pro, I'd certainly own a 200 f2. I think it would quickly earn its keep.

I appreciate his sharing of this fine image. I know the customer was pleased.

I haven't taken offense to anything said here. It's good to have open exchanges.

The 200 2L really shines at some of the corporate events I shoot. I can get great candids in very low light and hand hold at shutter speeds of 1/30/1/25 of a sec consistently.

Heres some stuff from a corporate black tie event I shot this past Sat night.
3200 and 6400 ISO at shutter speeds of 1/30, 1/40 in a very dark room but the room had very interesting light so the quality was good there just wasn't much of it. I couldn't have gotten these shot wit ha 200 2.8.

The lady listening intently, 4th from the bottom, is a terrific image!
