I've been doing a lot of work on my lighting lately, and I'm going to build a new diffuser in a few weeks so I went to the lake to get some reference images. Gary Fong is going to produce a new Puffer diffuser that's about twice the size of the current model. Should be available toward the end of this month.

Tech Specs: Canon 1D Mark III (F11, 1/250, ISO 100) + a Canon MPE-65mm macro lens (@ 3x) + a diffused MT-24EX

It would actually look pretty good -I took a few shots with the camera set to 2x @ F16 and I was surprised at the level of detail I got.

I have just invested in a 6D,primarily to go with my mpe as my 40D is playing up (you know the story, wildy under or over exposing) however I have also tested it with a zoom against my 7D and it leaves it for dead.Looking forward to trying a bit of macro with it.With the pixel pitch and new sensor I should be able to get away with murder

I'm looking into a replacement for my 1D MK III and I'm not sure if I want to go back to a 1.6x crop sensor or full frame. I like the physical crop, but I don't like the noise and loss of dynamic range.

The 40D's light meter nearly drove me insane...

Ha! That's funny, the loss of DR and increase in noise - you know my stuff.

Nice dragon head BTW, though they don't do much for me anymore - personal taste has shifted.

These days the sensor in the 70D is almost as good as the one that's in my 1D MK III -the technology is starting to catch up.

Me either -and that's why you don't see me shoot them much anymore. Just a convenient subject when I need to do a real world test since I can shoot them anytime I want (I know them that well).

Multiple edits since I seem to have trouble typing today -donk spel to goed...

I'm EST +5, I think (we just went to daylight savings time in Europe). GMT +1 in Italy now.
