Years ago- I took a group of Americans on a China and SE Asia tour.
In Bangkok this member of the group thought it would be fun to hold a large constrictor snake around her neck.
Until the snake tightened its grip.
"Never fear, I am here," said I.
"Yeah, taking a picture while the damn snake strangles me," she replied enthusiastically.
What could I say? The company I worked for would have paid a lot of money for the shot if the snake HAD killed her...(just to make sure that nobody ELSE got the picture.
But it didn't happen. The snake was just getting more comfortable.

Charlie, I have a rule that I have lived by ever since I made wildlife photography a relative priority in my life..."First get the photo, then call for help"....plus any tourist stupid enough to put a snake around their neck while the handler goes on a bathroom break is just asking to reduce the line at the fortune cookie factory by one.

Thanks, guys.
Actually, most of what I said was fiction .
There were two attendants just out of my picture- and they were very attentive.
And the woman and I had no such dialogue.
The snake DID tighten up a bit to feel more secure, but the procedure was so much a part of its daily life that it never got stressed. Nor did the woman, really; just this quick look of surprise that my speedy right finger caught.
In fact, because snakes are cold blooded, they often enjoy the warmth they get from being held.
Even in the heat of the Tropics .

Love the shot Charlie...I can see the unbridled joy in her face over having the snake wrapped around her. To be honest it actually feels kind of interesting to have a large snake like that wrapped around you.

I once knew a snake lady; I think that had something to do with tattoos and her work!!! What a look you captured. Don

Remember when handling them they do not like being gripped and squeezed. Let them lie across you and your arms or hands.

From her facial expression looks like she is thinking:"I can'tbelieve I'm doing this!"
You caught a great moment
Too bad she didn't get killed

Much grass, guys and doll ().
In the US- the southern states have a variety of poisonous snakes, i.e. cottonmouth, coral, etc.
In the west we have rattlers.
But in none of the states do we have really big constrictors like this one.
So that was part of the appeal for tourists.
On a different trip to Thailand I went to a snake serum institute where they raised cobras and king cobras so they could use their venom to develop antidotes for cobra bites- which in SE Asia are not all that rare.
I was there at feeding time, and three attendants lifted and stretched a king cobra, pried its mouth open, and (using long chopsticks ) shoved food down its mouth and throat.
That king cobra was more than 15 feet long! And seriously poisonous. (Correction: about 12 feet long.)
