Much grass, guys and doll ().
In the US- the southern states have a variety of poisonous snakes, i.e. cottonmouth, coral, etc.
In the west we have rattlers.
But in none of the states do we have really big constrictors like this one.
So that was part of the appeal for tourists.
On a different trip to Thailand I went to a snake serum institute where they raised cobras and king cobras so they could use their venom to develop antidotes for cobra bites- which in SE Asia are not all that rare.
I was there at feeding time, and three attendants lifted and stretched a king cobra, pried its mouth open, and (using long chopsticks ) shoved food down its mouth and throat.
That king cobra was more than 15 feet long! And seriously poisonous. (Correction: about 12 feet long.)
