p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Juvenile bald eagle

This set is my best quality images from the day at Ted’s Pond. I’m defiantly going back, it’s just a matter of when I’ve got opportunity and am in the mood for the rater long drive there and back.

Difficult time of the day for these Morris. Not sure how far out the beamer can reach but more fill could have been used IMO.

On good note you got some great shots! #1 with a look to you is cool and #2 is my top pick Maybe a little more opening up of the shadows on these??.............I know you like contrast though

Gosh not a cloud in the sky, how did you manage that, when I make plans it rains

Very nice Morris. It must be so nice to see these beauties fly overhead and get shots of them

Very nice shots in some super harsh lighting conditions. I'm trying to work out if that is some feather "bling" on his beak or if the beak is damaged. Probably just some "bling".

Congrats on the nice IF's Morris. I do hope you get back there for another chance with these guys, a different angle of light and these would be much improved. It's not that long of a drive

Very nice Morris, I'm sure there's no need to be defiant about going back for more.

Overhead sky shots of BE's just plain suck. Especially when when you're shooting against a feature-less background such as a blue bird sky.
The fact that you had them in focus tells you you got something right. Exposure with these shots is just plain impossible. You could deal with some of the shadowing on the under-side of the wings with some PP. I don't see how a flash could do that much at those distances. I typically just overexposed a little.
Just go back and get some shots with some background.

Morris;
For the record. I didn't mean your sky shots sucked. I meant that having to shoot BE's. against that type of background and light sucks.
Just sayin.

Morris:

Bald eagles are difficult to shoot. It takes time to master the environment of juvi versus mature.

All are a tad soft but all things considered, great job. 99% of the time, you don't need a beamer to shoot eagles at my pond.
