I got to play with it the other day, along with the 12-32mm kit lens. Here's what I thought: http://cameras.reviewed.com/content/panasonic-lumix-gm1-first-impressions-review

Nice review, Ben.

Looks like an interesting camera, especially considering you can mount so many other fantastic lenses it.

That is a crazy small camera. I think the cam is a little too small for my taste (and I have too many cameras to be buying another without selling some), but the tiny pancake looks very interesting.

Thanks, Dean.

Jordan, I agree for the most part. I prefer a more substantial camera, or alternatively, one that I can actually fit in my pants pocket. I.e. something like a Canon S120 or... a smartphone. But I do think it's a really interesting move for Panasonic, and I think it's priced well.

The kit lens looks to be pretty fantastic, though I personally have no real need for it.

I'll be VERY interested in seeing how well that tiny 12-32 zoom works on the E-M5. A real space/weight saver in place of the Pany 12-35 for travel if ya gotta carry everything, all the time...

I wish they would make a tiny fast AF interesting 17mm lens.

IBIS and EVF is a lot to lose.

The MTFs for the 12-32 pancake zoom are seriously impressive. It looks to be razor sharp throughout the range from wide open.

Well, you're pretty close with the new 15mm f/1.7:

Hmmm interesting. Can't wait to see the LensTip or your test.

How reliable are the Panasonic MTFs?

More reliable than Sony, less than Zeiss or Leica.

Let's put it this way...the MTF for the 12-32 pancake zoom are better than the MTFs for Panasonic's own 14-45mm kit zoom that came with the G1. That lens was phenomenal, and while slow, was very sharp throughout the zoom range. The fact that Panasonic says the new lens is better means it likely is...and if that's the case, me want. It might make me use my GX1 a little more, since I could easily toss that in a jacket pocket without even thinking about it.

Guess this is the lens that we all (or at least I) hoped the 14-42mm OIS would be. Maybe. Hope the tests prove it out.

I agree that the 14-45mm kit zoom is very good/excellent. What's interesting is comparing the 12-32 MTFs to the MTF for the 12mm pancake. I like the 12mm pancake an awful lot. Guess the not so hot MTFs don't bother me in practice. I think of it as a good lens, albeit not great.

The dimensions of the 12-32mm are very close to those of the 14mm pancake too. The 12-32mm is a tad larger.

I assume that one can manually zooom the 12-32mm zoom, is that correct?

Yes, it's a manual zoom, though it looks like you can't manually focus it with a ring...that'll have to be done somehow via software it seems, as there's no focus ring.
