One more, from dusk, just as people were starting to turn on their inside lights. Unfortunately that day was mostly very overcast with little detail in the clouds. Same combination, 2.5s @ f/11:

Sellin, Ostsee, Germany. Sinar Hy6, eMotion 75LV, Zeiss 80/2.8 @ 1/5s, f/5.7:

I am finding this an interesting experience so far.

The eMotion 75LV back delivers files which are very unlike my A7 files. The A7 files are good, but somehow feel blunt, and resistant to changes. I have to be quite brutal with slider movement to get different looks, I find. The e75 files are completely different. Large changes destroy them, and I find myself meditating for minutes over single click changes. The white balance reaches values never ever seen with my A7. I just saw a blue-yellow balance of 12000 with the above file, when auto-white balancing on one of the white shells! I ended up significantly more blue and a touch less green though, because it was dusk, and rainy, and the world was blue.

All in all it has been a bit eye-opening for me. In the beginning I found the files frustrating, but in hindsight it was a learning experience, and my touch has become gentler, which rewards me. White balance and colours are so much better than Nikon D800 and A7, once nailed, but it is hard work to get there.

It is still a lot more work to set up, focus and process than the A7, but it then gets me further. And one thing which I hadn't fully anticipated is what a relief it is to work with a camera which feels like a real camera, and not an electronic gadget. Sony has a lot to learn in that field. They have come far, but have much further to go, although the EVF is still awesome.

I need to work a bit more with the Rolleiflex lenses, nay, a lot more, to find out what may be holding me back, and in some cases, if I need a tune-up. Once I have this system fully set up and debugged, I am really looking forward to putting it through its paces.

Being in Guangzhou, but it's hazy, no weather for photography. Trying to get some night-cityscape. Despite the 645Z being an excellent long exposure camera, this the only I got:

Beautiful light and color Stefan!
Wondering on a shot like this how different the colors would be if shot with a D800E?

The Nikon generally has wonderful colours, with two exceptions: skin tones are a bit dead, and reds under the sun are often a touch on the orange side. Medium format cameras generally handle those two cases with excellence. In the above photo, I expect the reds would be a bit shifted towards orange, but it would otherwise look similar, colour-wise. The greens might be a touch brighter, but it is hard for me to say since I don't know the greens in Cambodia. Apparently Asian greens are often a bit brownish, due to excess sun.

In general, medium format cameras have very nice colours, and a beautiful relaxed look to the rendering, which is hard to describe, or show in a single photo, but when looking at many photos, the impression builds up. Side-by-side single photo tests invariably fail to demonstrate it, but look at any body of work, and you start to see the difference.

I can say that skin tones are excellent on any medium format cam I tried. And the greens in Cambodia are indeed yellow.
The pics I take with the Pentax look different from what I did with full frame Canon. One reason maybe because I work differently with the Pentax. And I can tweak the files more heavily in post. And one big reason is, I like the camera better in every way, such as handling, noise, color, dynamic range. I am also pleased with the lenses.

Went out for a few pics tonight, wind was blowing pretty good and the temp was getting cold. This is the Government Docks in Sarnia Ontario.
