p.1 #1 · Sekonic PW RT-32 Outdoor Range?

Not sure if someone had similar experience with range issue of PW rt-32. I was testing strobe triggering outdoor using Sekonic L-358 with rt-32. The PW Plus II acted as receiver on strobe. I was standing just a few feet away and it failed to trigger the flash until I moved closer, maybe 3-4 ft. That surprised me as I thought the range would be much greater. I haven't noticed this in indoor settings. Am I missing anything?

Thanks in advance for your input.

I've got an RT-32 in a Sekonic L-358 and the range is pretty bad. Sometimes it's only a few feet, somtimes more, sometimes it doesn't work at all. I end up putting the meter in standard flash mode and triggering with another PW.

Thanks, hondageek, for the info. At least I'm not alone. You would think the wireless range is greater than just a few feet.

I've had that issue in the past. A new fresh battery helps.
The battery indicator isn't really very reliable.

Thanks for the info. That makes sense. I can swap out the battery and try again, even it showed full on display.

Just tried with my 758DR with RT32, PlusII, and 580EX. 758DR has low battery warning, PlusII has so-so batteries as does the 580EX. Fired every time at approximately 60ft. Not sure why you are having problems.
