I am using Leitaxed C/Y on S5PRO and considering a FF frame Nikon body.
Can anybody share your experience about D700 and D610/D600 for MF only lenses (focus confirmation, OVF, etc)? Please do not compare video, build quality, Megapixel, and other features. For them I know D610/D600 is better.

Also do I need to change focus screen in order to get reliable MF?

Thanks,
JJ

I can't speak for the 600 and 610, but I have been shooting manual focus lenses on the D700 for over 3 years. I find it to be a wonderful combination. The viewfinder is bright and the focus confirmation light is very easy for me to work with (and accurate enough for my needs).

I just finished shooting some pictures for friends today using mainly 85 f1.8 Ai'd and 105 f2.5 Ai'd. The pictures are great! I supplemented those shots with a few from the 24-70 f2.8 AFS.

I have shot with the following Nikkor manual focus lenses. All of them have worked well for me on the D700.
24 f2.8 Ais
35 f2.8 Ai'd
50 f1.4 Ai
55 f3.5 Ai'd (macro, with and without extension tube)
85 f1.8 Ai'd
105 f2.5 Ai'd
135 f3.5 Ai'd
600 f5.6 Ais

Good luck and let us know what you decide to get!

Steve

I use the D600 and the following manual focus lenses everyday. The viewfinder is bright and very easy to see the focus. The "green" light is very accurate sharpness and detail. You can click my Zenfolio account to see for yourself. All of these were taken with the D7000 and the D600. Of the two cameras the D600 is soooo much easier to focus.
