It was a stunning day at the Oceanside Marine Nature Study Area when the great egret treated me to a close fly buy. Later, as I walked around the pond, I spotted another great egret in a tree. I took my time and got nice and close allowing me to take these photos with the clear blue sky in the background.

The sky is never this deep a blue in NYC, and it is the result of my compensating for the white bird and leaving it alone in PP as I like the contrast. The second photo was taken with my better beamer on and at the close distance flash control becomes rather tricky so I simply remove the lens. This gave me the nice fill and catch light seen in the other images.
