Here we go....same as DP forums.

If YOU believe their offerings are what you need I don't see how it's over priced. Otherwise there are other options out there.

This breach isn't isolated to Adobe. It has happen to many companies, even those with the finest security measures.

I suppose you like to abandon Pentagon and FBI also. Because they have been hacked before.

Here's a wake up call.

The Adobe hacking was just reported on CBC radio. They mentioned that Adobe is used to make .pdf files, and for flash on web sites... That's it.

I abandoned Adobe due to their outrageous pricing and rental software model
once they get your renting you are stuck, they can raise prices

Stick to the subject or just move along. Enough Adobe bashing.

Couple months back I was on a business trip and out of the blue without any warnings at all my MasterCard stopped working. Turns out it was somehow compromised and the card company decided to kill all cards on the spot. Lucky for me I had another credit card to continue with on my business trip. Never was told how my card was compromised...but it happens to the best of companies.

The subject is Adobe. The object is under discussion.

No, the subject is Adobe being hacked, or hacking into businesses in general...not why I hate Adobe.

I don't hate Adobe. I use it. CS6, that is.

The subject is Adobe. The object is being hacked. That does not disqualify other objects, nor other subjects.

You get what you pay for.

So sad, this is the most interesting thread going, except for the images threads which are always preferred

Adobe? I have no issues with Adobe, Lightroom is great and relatively reasonably priced. Elements is pretty good except they've been going sorta Microsofty with useless popups asking if you want to do stuff you don't. Anyway the full-up Photoshop and assorted add ons seems like its for corporate professional graphic artist yahoos who are buying on business contracts anyway. So leasing is just a business model.

Anyway my real grief was with Intuit/Quicken. Dang, the whole reason I bought a computer back in the late 80s sometime was to run Quicken and keep up with all my various credit cards, investments and 401Ks. Upgraded until Q2002 when Intuit went all wonky and didn't much support Mac anymore. When I got my Intel iMac I thought I was SOL until I discovered Rosetta. Been running on that until OS 10.8 decided not to support Rosetta. Now what? Tried other buggy software with great frustration until I thought I was back to a frigging spread sheet again. Then low and behind Intuit releases a Quicken 2007 version compiled on the new Mac OS!!! And, they only charge $15 for it!!! Problems solved. So there you go, just when you think some corporation, Intuit, is totally screwed, they come around and do something nice. Humph, damn company, they don't even have a Contact Us email so I can thank them. Thats why I stuck you guys with this Well, that and Friday night and a coupl'a beers.

Oh, and thanks for posting Indy. I went to the few sites where I used the same user/passwd which also had my credit card info and changed.

Cheers.

I like adobe. But this was bound to happen with their cloud move. They angered a lot of people and therefore made themselves a target. I think the cloud is a good idea for professionals but for the occasional user it is not. Thankfully there are other alternatives out there.

You may like to think about using a unique password for each site you visit. You can manage them all with a free and open source password manager such as Keepass, which you control using a master password. That way if one website is compromised, your other logins are safe.

Adobe has a lot of smart programmers on board. But probably they have never done a vulnerability assessment or penetration testing of their networks. They need somebody with CEH background. (http://www.eccouncil.org/Certification/certified-ethical-hacker) .
