Here's a few of my most recent Nikon and errrm, "Nikon" film shots...

Here's the deal... the 35mm shots were with my F5 (the FM2 is in for a CLA at the moment), and the medium format shots were with my 1956 Rolleiflex 2.8E.... so, why are these "Nikon" then? well... check out the shot below showing how I digitized these.... I sandwiched the negs between two sheets of glass, with a large sheet of white Nylon behind, which was illuminated by an SB800 w/ umbrella to really diffuse the light... I then shot the negs with my D700 and 55mm f3.5 macro.... So... that counts for being "Nikon" film shots, right?!? In all honesty, I just REALLY love shooting the Rollei on the streets... it is a MAJOR conversation starter and I can also be very subtle with it... the shutter is almost in-audible with the din of traffic and the sounds of the city... I can hang it over my shoulder and view the waste level finder to compose and shoot while i am "busy texting" with my other hand....

here's the set up (iPhone/instagram shot):

F5 shot...

another from the F5

and a few from the Rollei

tell us a bit more about this shot? I'm really liking the look... this is a scan from a neg? did you do any additional processing in post? I've got a bunch of portra 160 at home that I'm looking foreward to shooting...

Thanks, yes it's a scan from a neg (scanned myself). The editing done is mainly what would be expected when copying in a darkroom; adjusting exposure (levels) and sharpening to account for the softening effect of the scanner. I suspect that photo is a fair bit warmer than perhaps is normal. Some artifacts removed from background. Other than that; nothing.

It's taken with a Zeiss ZF 1.4/85 @ 2.8 if I'm not mistaken (about the aperture). This could also account for the slightly warmer photo.

finally got around to getting more shots diigtized... I've got lots more, so I'll try not to flood the thread... I've really been enjoying seeing everyones shots... I really REALLY do hope that the future of film is strong... I know it well never be anywhere near what it used to be... but I hope that it continues to be available for many years to come.... otherwise I am going to be learning how to do wet plate

without further adue... here are my four shots for today...

1. For about the last week there has been an unusal amount of fog hanging around the city. It would tend to burn off by about 10:00am and then by 4:30 it would roll in again. It was litterally like watching a wall come towards you. I made a point of getting out to shoot a few times to capture the mood and lights in the fog.

2-4. These are some more shots from another cyclocross race I went to last weekend. Cross has such a different atmosphere compared to road racing. Everyone is just out to have a good time. You ring cowbells and heckle the racers from the side lines... people will taunt the racers with cans of beer as the are riding their guts out through the mud... You will put everything you have into battling with the next guy, trading passes and rubbing elbows... and then at the end of it all, you crack a beer and bullsh*t with the same people you were just trying to beat about how you screwed up, and they made a great move... Cross is fun... and it's great to photograph...

Sure ... I'll play. Old Girlfriend taken with a new Nikon F3, sometime in 1983. Details otherwise forgotten.
I still have the Body. In fact I've now got two other F3HP's ... good, I think for another 30 years. I hope I have that much mileage left.
