Here's a break from what I've been posting lately. I took these in June along the Columbia River on the Oregon side.

2 it might be a bit tight, it's full frame top to bottom

3 finally got a nice pose out of him

Tim, these are so beautiful with wonderful, wonderful lighting , composition and detail. He looks like he is posing for you in a studio

East of what? Last I looked at a US map Oregon was anything but east...maybe east of the Pacific Ocean and Hawaii but that's about it. But even if its misplaced you did a great job and showing off the full frame is pretty neat...you must have been in Morris stealth mode. Your usual quality, ahem

I think TIm may just be frustrated at the lack of Northern Cardinals in the PNW. Either that, or he's gotten tired of posting florals.

Seriously, these are stunning images of an engaging bird; I can almost hear him (or her) singing in that portrait shot. As others have said, fantastic detail, spectacular light, and fabulous poses. I do have a question about the crop in #2...personally, I don't think it seems too tight vertically, but it seems that a more conventional crop would have included (or added) more space on the left to achieve a typical landscape-type ratio. Tim, did you deliberately go with a (nearly) square crop here? (And, if so, why?)
