Wish I could contribute but haven't got mine yet. It will be this month though. I would really like to see some more images from this cam. To keep me going whilst I wait for the rest of the funds to come through please post some of your shots!

Mark

Change your thread title to "D4 Official image thread" and it'll be a start.

While I can appreciate your thread, I'm still a firm believer in the glass not the body. UNLESS you are asking to see samples at high iso or handling the DR. But maybe it's just me but I couldn't tell the difference between a D4, D3s, D3, D700, D800, D800E, heck even a D2X if good glass is used for everyday shots.

Hey Bastian, what you say is true. I am much happier spending money on glass. Camera bodies come and go but glass.....

It has been a long time since I have used a pro camera. My first was a D2X and than a Canon MKIII (used Canon for a couple of years. Had the 5D and the III). I'm really looking forward to using a pro body again. Humour me! The next two weeks can't go quick enough.

I still like this kind of threads since i want to see what kind of difference the same glass can do on different bodies.

I'm convinced there's almost no difference except for:
DX vs. FX, mostly DoF.
High ISO, mostly when viewed at close to 100%
Ability to heavily crop with higher resolution

For most use in fairly good light, any difference between bodies is nothing compared to differences in glass and post-processing technique.

I have a D300s and D3, but I still want a D4 as a lens accessory.

as to almost no difference, ah, no.

your rationalization limits the idea of "almost no difference".

You don't buy a d4 for the image quality, if you want image quality you get a d800e which DxoMark has posted as the best sensor ever tested. It does have good image quality, but you buy it because you need Fps and connectivity, or you need the best high ISO camera in the world. The high ISO shooting with this camera is really unbelievable. I'm on a trip at the moment, but I have some images when I get home.

Lovely cityscape furnace man.

Of course you are right Willy Y. But, those pro bodies are simply wonderful to use. I have a D800 and truly love it. Still, more of my paid work seems to be done on the D700 hence this new purchase. When I am given the time ( interiors, exteriors etc) I turn to the 800 (and no doubt that will still be the case with the D4). Looking forward to seeing some shots.

If you can't tell the difference between a D4 and a D700 or D800, I have to really question whether you've seen them shooting outside of a studio setting. In a studio setting where you have fabulous lighting, I can probably get a really good shot with my old D200.

I shoot with a D4 and a D700, and my 2nd shooter uses a D800. We use all the same glass, and in low-light conditions, there's a huge difference between the cameras.

But I do agree that the camera is wasted without professional glass -- unless, again, you're shooting in a studio setting.

Yeah Mark my explaination was geared towards the comment by another that there isn't much difference image quality wise, and really there isn't at base ISO. Anyway I found the same thing with my d800 - for most shooting I don't want 36 mp's, I looked and looked for a D3s but any of them in good condition are still going for 4k. I love the D4 except for the XQD card slot. I would much rather have 2 of the same slots. No one that I know of makes a cf/ XQD reader, so you need both readers and have to bring along both cards if you are on an extended trip. Just kind of dumb really that nikon did that.
