Here is another post I wrote back in Jan 2008 this was a time when the forums got ho hum and people were just posting to post with no real thought put into there work . Hoping that bring thought provoking post back .
" No man is an island ," wrote John Donne, the seventeenth-century poet. " Everyman is a piece of the continent, a part of the main; if a clod be washed away by the sea Europe is less.... any mans death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind." Those words apply not only to humans but to our forum . As Photographers we are all interwoven and interrelated, comprising an interdependent system made up of skill levels, knowledge, learning and teaching abilities and artistic expression. As humans we are born into different times, countries, parents, economic and social lifestyles, educational backgrounds, religious and political backgrounds . However, no one can deny the presence of diversity in our forum . We know the value of unity, yet we cannot ignore the reality of diversity. And therein lies "the rub" As humans we have a tendency to judge those that don't embrace his /her customs and convictions and on the other hand , because of the passion we have for our style of photography we discount those who find fault. When in reality there is not fault to discount , we have the freedom to express our selves any way we please.
The talents in this forum are endless, and we should all be thankful for what we have , and for the opportunities to learn from the wealth of knowledge that is put before us . It's Ok to agree to disagree, that's all part of the beauty to the forums . Be wise and workable , be accepting, releasing , and never assume a role we are not qualified for. I think these are things we all struggle with, I now I do . I have tried with the help of our photographic community, to make this the best forum on Fred's since it's inception 5 years ago. I can only hope we as macro photographers have succeeded.
