Had my free bird tour last weekend (I let them use some of my images). They "saw" 130+ birds in the day, I got some birds I haven't seen before but more importantly learned of the places to go.
eg. I now know of 2 display posts used by Victoria's Riflebird (a Bird of Paradise)
Anyways, back to what I got this time
The Tooth Billed Catbird is in the bowerbird family, rather than build a bower as such it clears the rainforest floor and cuts leaves using it's tooth bill which it arranges in a circular pattern with the pale side of the leaves upturned and sings from a nearby tree. Amazing noises, there were 8 males calling in the immediate area.
The female comes to inspect the "bower" before deciding on a suitable mate.
You can just see the "teeth" in #2.
