p.1 #1 · REVISED Attack of the Cedar Waxwings

I've got a fair-sized Mountain Ash in my backyard and every spring I get very noisy parrots who love getting drunk off its fermented berries. The berries turn red at the end of summer and I notice they get gobbled up, but I must always be preoccupied because I never see by whom.

A week ago, I looked up and saw the tree was swarmed by Cedar Waxwings, which is funny because I'm always looking for some, know they are around, but rarely see any. They were fun to watch, although this is Seattle, after all, and our two-week summer is over and it's very windy.

Anyway, as of today, the Ash is virtually stripped of berries. And the Waxwings are gone, except for the memories preserved here.

Glenn

P..S.: I took the two that got no "votes," and exchanged them with a couple I captured at lunch. You'll notice how bare the few remaining clumps of berries are.

Hmmm, I kind of messed this up. I thought I was replacing in order. I numbered them, so the messages will make sense (hopefully).

Real nice set of the juvi's Glenn!! It's amazing how fast they will strip a tree of all its fruit. You did a great job with these guys

Thanks, Ron. My wife and I have been "discussing" which ones we like and can't agree. I appreciate it when people make a choice. It helps one home in on what's pleasing. Yes, next year, I'll have camera ready. Maybe a tripod.

Thanks, Ken. I couldn't get enough and am kind of sad the berry supply has run out.

Well, you know about summers here, Tim. Actually, I guess we had a nice one this year, but I traveled and missed much of it Thanks as always for checking these out.

Thanks, David. You are right. I have two last clumps of berries that I'm watching. They are the closest to the house, which I surmise is why they remain.
