In the White Mountains- east of Bishop, California.
A fascinating desert at 10,000 feet elevation.
Bristlecone pines can grow to become the oldest living things in the world.

That's a classic Bristlecone shot Charlie, super saturated sky, well exposed wood. It reminds me of Outside magazine photography from the 70's

What a way
to start my day:
The Eric and Ron Show .
Thanks Ken and Tim (and the other two too).
Not many years ago they were trying to find the oldest living bristlecone pine. And they did.
Trouble was, back then they had to kill the tree to count the rings.
At least now they have ways that don't kill them.

Very nice, Charlie. Your picture reminds me about the movie Lord of the ring, the Ent

Grand job Charles!

Hits close to home. Taboose creek close by is a childhood favorite of mine and caught many a trout in this brook!

Thanks Birdie, Tam, Brian, Chris and Kenny.
Good stream fishing nearby? I'm a bit surprised to hear that, because I didn't think any rivers in that whole region drained anywhere except to land-locked (and salty) lakes.
But then- I'm not a fisherman, so I guess I don't understand much about such things .
