As sort of expected, it's not a small lens, though I think I could manage for that speed/aperture. The 10-24 just looks absurdly large for a mirrorless UWA, though...it's got 72mm filters and looks to be roughly the size of a typical DSLR UWA zoom.

I always find those brochures difficult to get size from, but it's a hint. It'll be nice to try one or two on my X-E1 to see how they balance.

yeah they both look as fat as the 55-200, and no focus distance scale on the 10-24.
I think between the 14 and 18 I got the WA covered, I'll give the 10-24 a miss no matter how good it might be (although it'd be nice to have 10mm occasionally)

The 56.. not sure. I already have a fast jack of all trades with the 35, and for portraits I'll keep playing with my zuiko 85/2, although for the time being I cant take a sharp photo with it to save my life... that peaking thingo doesnt seem to work for me very well. I'd love to try it with the split screen type MF they have in the x100s.

Nice lineup though. It'll be interesting to see how fast the body can move those light primes when (if) AF gets better. The other gap in the system is the fast tele, there's nothing there. And last but not least, keep working on those raw converters. Oh and a VF-4 type EVF wouldnt harm

Bottom line, I think the bottleneck in the system is the body, not the lenses. The xPro2 (?) if/when it comes will be the big news.

I think you always expected it to be on the larger side of things. For me, it's all about how well it's actually be able to move that big glass and focus quickly/accurately. Will be good to see how it handles on an XPro2 or similar.

I'm with you Spyro P. I have the Canon FD 50mm 1.4 and it's an awesome sharp lens from F2 and up but I can't take a sharp photo with the peaking feature either...it's always off focus. Unless I use a tripod zoom in lock focus and the subject doesn't move...

Thanks for the link, impressive. I assume with bigger lenses the lenses will be more optically corrected as it is stated in 10-24 sample for distortion.

Other question is how big Panasonic 42.5 1.2 will be compared to Fuji 56 1.2? I was looking 90mm rf f/2-2.5 options and they are not that small either compared to Oly 45mm 1.8 which equivalent to f/3.5 FF. Small Contax g 90mm 2.8 is same size as Oly 60mm macro.

The question for me is how this would compare in size and output to an adapted Rokkor 58 f/1.2 (or Jordan to your Hexanon 57 f/1.2 which I think you prefer). It doesn't look like it would be any smaller, and it will have to be impressive optically to be much better than either of these two lenses which are likely a bit cheaper. It will of course have autofocus, but for a portrait lens, and most short tele shots I take, I prefer manual focus. So for me, I doubt I would get this lens, but for the system I am glad it exists.

56/1.2 doesn't look too bad for its speed, but darn, that 10-24 is indeed MASSIVE relatively speaking.

Might balance well on an XPro, but looks darn unwieldy on a XE-1 or XM-1 I'd have to think.

Maybe its not as heavy as it looks....

Very nice and very tempting catalog. An X-Pro1 with the 23mm f/1.4 and 56mm f/1.2 would be a very nice combination. Tempting, tempting

yeah makes you want to play the "which 3 lens travel kit" game

18/2 + 35/1.4 + 60/2.4?
or
14/2.8 + 23/1.4 + 56/1.2?

The 18/2 is a nice size, speed, focal length and price, but its kind of a dog, or at least mine was.

14mm on the other hand was quite exceptional for a wide

I do wish the 18mm was up to snuff compared to 14mm and 35mm, which are stupendously good. But my copy is good enough. There aren't that many times I need a 28mm lens sharp, sharp, sharp across the frame at f/2. And in the center it's sharp enough there. Once stopped down the rest comes into good quality too.

The 18 is one of my all time favs for environmental portraits and street, I absolutely love the rendering and bokeh.
But I did have to buy the 14 for everything else.

I'm loving my 18, it's excellent as a city lens (street, environmental portraits, cityscapes) and looks like it will be acceptable for landscapes that don't require sharpness in the extreme corners.

I do want that 14 though.
