Looks like a great update. Probably the best I've seen for LR in years.

Holy crap! What the hell did they do? This version's about 5 times faster than any previous version. Previews and image loading are freakin' instant. They didn't say anything about preview fixes or speed. Launch to develop is at least 3-5 times faster. If you haven't updated, stop what you're doing and go.

Is this what everyone else is experiencing? Just curious.

Pardon me while I pick up my jaw.

yeah... Whereas it said "Loading..." at the bottom when switching images it's now just ACTUALLY LOADING and not telling me that it's going to eventually get there!

Lightroom got it's Mojo back with a nice big mushroom a la Mario Cart!

Anyone else on Creative Cloud and not getting an update? Mine says it's all up to date and isn't giving me an option to go to 5.2. Maybe I'm missing something.

How much better is 5.2 than 4.4? Wondering if it's worth the upgrade.

I'm a LR user for a few days and I've got a question. After a wedding I copy ma photos to a external harddrive, after that I rate them in Bridge. Is there a possibility to import the rated photos in LR or do i have to manually copy them to a separate folder and then import them from that folder to LR? I hope my question is clear .

czak ... not sure if the rating in bridge is picked up by lightroom.

should be doable.

hopefully it is indeed quicker. LR is terribly slow/inefficient, regardless if you're running a $500 or $5,000 computer.

But do you know how to do this? I pick a import folder in LR but I can't find a sort by the stars/grade option

I'm not sure if it's doable, but I think everything you do in bridge can be done in LR. Just rate'em in LR, and you can forget about bridge in the future.

If the new version is only twice as fast as as my LR3- time to update for me.

Nope .... nine..... because why use bridge?
LR does this.

If i had real issues with LR for culling I would use photo-mechanic.

Yeah, I noticed LR5 to be slower and temperamental at times... can't wait to download the update.

LR can either read an XMP file or it's own internal database. Bridge and LR usually don't write to the raw file itself. If you get Bridge to generate an XPM file for the rated pics LR can read those and then integrate to the catalogue.
