Maybe I bungled into a setting somewhere and didn't realized it. But last two days when in aperture priority I can't use exposure compensation... An L appears on the top LCD.

Did I do this somehow? Am I missing something?

I have not upgraded the firmware yet. Is this an answer?

Thanks in advance

Joel

Under the back scroll wheel is a lock switch. Move it away from the locked position.

Hah that happened to me a while back with the lock switch. For 15 minutes I couldn't figure out why I couldn't change apeture!

You are not the only one who has done that. I had to get my manual out.

The other thing that confuses users (including me) is that you can only adjust exposure compensation if you hit the metering button first so the camera is 'active'. Then you have a few seconds to make the change. Otherwise the camera won't respond to the input.

It seems as though Canon has fixed all the problems I never had until now. I liked the old power button and don't like the button to prevent me from changing modes

DHphoto - yes and I thought I was going crazy...

I saw that on my friends camera once and when I saw the L, I thought why are they using ISO 50 and what does the ISO have to do with the problem anyway? Too bad the camera didn't have a HAL 9000 installed and blurted out "I'm afraid I can't allow you to change the compensation Dave"
