p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Need HELP with covering a HUGE Rugby Carnival

Hi All,

In two weeks time I am covering a state rugby titles as part of a small team in Australia.

There are 1,000 competitors competing over 4 days and I we (the team) are responsible for shooting team photos before the competition and then photographing and selling action prints during competition.

I am planning on using three Sony Snaplabs for image viewing and sales, I am planning to take the cards from the photographers at the end of each game, quickly edit and upload for viewing (ideally no longer than 30mins after the conclusion of each game)..

I thought I would reach out to FM to see if anyone had some advice or previous experience and could give me any tips? Or maybe there is something I have overlooked? I am still undecided on what software I am going to use for editing.. I just need it to be FAST! I thought I would use Lightroom.. I did have someone suggest iPhoto based simply on speed..

Any advice is much appreciated
Cheers
Chris

Chris,
If I was back in CBR I'd say give me a call (travelling off continent at the moment). Fastest software you'll find for ingesting, selecting, editing and uploading is probably photomechanic. I've shot track meets and road races where I've ingested, edited and captioned several thousand shots in a bit over an hour -- we almost did it live with a big meet in Canada this year. Upload depends on the speed of your connection -- we run online off photoshelter and had used software to run viewing stations off that platform in the past. Keep in mind, though, that we're getting exposure and cropping largely correct in camera.

Do a search on hear for Hammy and Cheer / cheerleading to get an idea of the real deal rig to use. It should also have some ideas for different viewing platforms.

Best of luck,
Sean
