A simple four pack that I have pulled from a trip to the north coast during off season. Some pretty large crops but when ur stuck in a boat on a lake you have to take what you can

Can't wait to go back and spend some quality time!

Thanks for viewing.
Brian

Australian Darter

Little Pied Comorant

Great Egret

Emu

The second appears a little soft, but the rest appear spot-on to me Brian. Could be titled Awessie Birds as in awesome.

Very nice, Brian! Do you have IDs? Looks like an Anhinga cousin in #1, and maybe an ostrich cousin (juvenile) in #4, but what about #2? TFS. ~Greg

Andy You are correct! I should have posted that too!

The lake was small and in the Mareeba Wetlands. I will check at home.

Take care,
Brian

No worries mayyyyyyyyyyyte !

Yeah Mareeba Wetlands sounds about right, that's where I saw my first Emus.

I thought either there or Lake Tinaroo - used to get the wife to paddle there and I'd sit up front with the camera

Next time may be in 2014! I am starting to figure how and when now. Gotta get to Africa too for family so may have to do a dual continent trip. Lake T is a fabulous place as well. Spent one evening hanging out there and watched a gorgeous sunset there with a nice braai!

Love it there. The only place I would consider if I had to leave my homeland. Thoughts and prayers to our country and the people that lost loved ones on this day and blessings to all the support crews, doctors, rebuilders, and families that have had to cope for so long without their loved ones. Still sickens me and angers me after so long. I can't imagine......

I think it was a bad hair day for sure! Now I see why the ostrich always has a head in the hole. Emu is no better off!

Cool, give me shout if you're in the Cairns area. I moved here 7 years ago from the uk and would never go back or indeed anywhere else in Oz.

I have a very knowledgeable birding friend who is taking me out next week for a free tour as he has used some of my pics for his website. He and a mate have just started a bird tour business here if you're interested PM me.

Incidentally, there are feral Ostriches in S.Australia, they used to farm them for their feathers.

Also, apparently there are more camels in the "Red Centre" of Australia than there are in the Sahara desert !

The whole country is full of tragic mistakes regarding introduced wildlife mainly in the 19th century.
