p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Miami vs Florida

Received a lot of constructive criticism about my photos from the game last week only showing the backs of the players so hopefully these make up for it. All shot with 70-200.

1. Duke Johnson and Stephen Morris

These (and those on the blog) seem heavily over-sharpened for web display. Too much, IMHO.

As for content - players 'standing' or 'sitting' there really should show some emotion. The two guys during warm-ups...do these photos show they are really getting ready for one of the biggest games of their year? And the Florida player on the bench - can you really tell from him that they are going to suffer a loss that could potentially ruin their season before it begins? Neither set has any discernible emotion.

As for the 'action' - crop in tighter to the second one. The partial player on the left and the linemen's butts on the right are pointless to the action that is happening. I'd suggest to the start of the Miami players' feet on the left, and end with the beginning of the feet on the right just past the Hurricane on the ground.

As for the QB throwing - get him out of the center. Crop so he's on the left third as there is NOTHING on the left half of that frame that does anything for the photo. May even want to see what it looks like cropped at the waist areas.

Last one - I actually like the wide shot that shows the two Gators linemen who obviously lost blocks...but want to see the toes you cut off...

Awesome. thanks for all the feedback. Definitely something to think about for the future. I'll look into the sharpening as it is the same action I use for all my sharpening and I've never had an issue before. I will keep in my trying to capturing the emotions of players better so the photo can tell a story.

yep, I agree with Carlson on the cropping...you can direct the eyes to the important part of the picture by geting rid of "stuff" that doesn't matter. Much better than your first post so you are making strides...keep at it.

Cropping and processing aside...70-200?? Now that's what I call access. Must be nice. Shoot and post some more. As for the outcome of the game...well...(UF paid my way for 4 years)
