Yes , 6D MK1 it has a much better sensor than the one from 5D MK3 . I was so impressed about the low noise from it's files that , a year later i bought another one , so , now I own 2x 6D bodies . The new 6D MK2 is worse than the original one. It's unbelievable , but , somehow , Canon managed to do the imposible , to make a 5 years newer camera that it's worse than the predecessor !

The 6D has very little banding at low ISO. The only banding you can see is the low frequency variety when viewed at downsampled resolution. It has absolutely zero banding at High ISO, even less than the D3s.

Here is the banding performance of 6 cameras - 6D, 5DM3, D800, D600, D5100, and D7100. All images were shot -5EV and pushed +5EV (raw, developed in LR)

Canon 6D
Canon 5DM3
Nikon D800
Nikon D600
Nikon D5100
Nikon D7100

So how about 6D2 [ or D850 ] file vs the samples from the above?
